Elk Recordings
The wild Tule Elk at Point Reyes National Seashore are currently in rut and the bulls are bugling quite consistently. I was able to spend an early morning recording their calls on the bluffs above the ocean.
Wolf + Marine Mammals
I had the opportunity to record wolf, sea lion, and elephant seal vocalizations this summer with my friend Julian! We were able to get some unique reactions and test a lot of different mic techniques in the process.
Lassen Volcanic National Park
On a weekend trip up to the Bay Area I stopped at Lassen Volcanic National Park and was able to fit in some field recording along with my hiking. The landscape has some amazing ambiences but the highlight for me was the hydrothermal areas that created an otherworldly soundscape.
Toledo Zoo Recording Sessions
I had the wonderful opportunity to spend two days at the Toldeo Zoo recording over eleven animals and their vocalizations. You can hear the processed results in my senior thesis (under the Sound Design & Foley tab), primarily as the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and in the creature vocals for King Kong and the T-Rex.
Channels Islands National Park
Was able to capture some ocean and grassland ambience on Santa Cruz Island at Channels National Park. The sounds of the ferry from underneath the dock produced some interesting effects!
Laguna Beach
Impromptu field recording session while hiking in Laguna Beach. A small dam had some really interesting rushing water and this cave had awesome unique acoustical characteristics!
